The story of Colditz has captured people’s imaginations for decades. The documentary takes a fresh perspective on life inside the castle, using personal stories and details to express the bravery, honour, love and freedom that ultimately defined our history. The prison was known to be one from which no-one could escape, but escape they did. The programme delves deep into some of those incredible escape attempts and ingenious plans prisoners made to get out of the fortress, whilst also touching upon the epic fight for survival and conditions in which prisoners lived.
